TROMjaro 2026.01.25 (some fixes)

Since the last release we got a bit of traction. We ended up on the front page of DistroWatch and we got a nice article on ZDnet. Plus a bunch of reviews on Youtube. Nice!

What is important for us is when people talk about the idea behind TROMjaro. This trade-free approach, since this is the most unique thing about our distro.

So anyway, we decided to release another ISO with the latest Mannjaro Stable Updates plus some things we fixed/added.

We are shipping now with the package manjaro-downgrade which helps you downgrade a package safely in case you need to. And I added a slight transparency to our Window top bar:

It is a slight change that can make it more obvious which window is on top. To do that open the the Window Manager Tweaks and do this:

But it was for @rokosun and MorsMortium to work on fixing some “bad bugs” and improve some of our packages.

From MorsMortium who created the GTK NoCSD package:

  • Fix Firefox window content being smaller than the title bar
  • Fixed Firefox losing title bar when changing the title bar option
  • Fixed Firefox 147 crashing (which also made it impossible to change the previous title bar setting on Xorg (it can still be toggled on Wayland))
  • Add crash handler that restarts the application without the library
  • Fixed Font Manager crashing, which also removed some terminal spamming in most applications
  • Disable the library inside the Cambalache compositor, which does not support SSD

From @rokosun :

  1. Layout Switcher:

    • Minor changes to the UI like:

      • Updated tooltips to indicate our new default layout being Unity and removed the (experimental) tags we had before on MacOS & Unity layouts.

      • Removed text on top about when we ask for password since our password prompt itself is now more user friendly and descriptive.

    • Use CSS rem values for setting UI sizes, making the UI look consistent across different screen resolutions and font sizes or DPI values.

    • Some code refactoring for our toggle-global-menu and toggle-gtk-nocsd programs

  2. TROMjaro mirrorlist package:

    • We now put our TROMrepo above all other repos, which allows us to fix some issues that arise due to incompatibility between ChaoticAUR and Manjaro repos.

    • Tio fixed the tblock package and easystroke package which he then added to TROMrepo for all users.

  3. TROMjaro Welcome app:

  • Use CSS rem values for setting UI sizes, making the UI look consistent across different screen resolutions and font sizes or DPI values. Now the default size of the Welcome app window will no longer be too small on high resolution screens.

That’s all. Grab the ISO from here.

UPDATE!!

Be aware that when you bring back your computer from suspend it will log you out and you will lose your session. This is a bug with the GTK NoCSD package and MorsMortium is aware of and he will work to fix it.

In the meantime you can disable it by running sudo toggle-gtk-nocsd disable in the terminal. sudo toggle-gtk-nocsd enable to enable it back.

UPDATE 2!!

The issue with the GTK NoCSD has been fixed. Please keep your system up to date.
